Pre-season is more than just results — it’s about preparation, team spirit, and laying the foundations for the season ahead. On a warm afternoon at Broadhurst Park, FC United of Manchester hosted Rochdale AFC in an engaging friendly, and I was privileged to be there with my camera to capture it all.
The match itself ended in defeat for FC United, but that was never the real story. These games are all about getting valuable minutes in the legs, testing combinations, and building momentum. From the opening whistle to the final moments, there was a strong sense of focus and determination from the players — exactly what you want to see in pre-season.
The crowd at Broadhurst Park created an energetic atmosphere despite the stakes being low, and both sets of players gave me plenty of moments to capture — challenges, link-up play, and glimpses of sharpness that will only grow as the weeks go on.
It’s always a pleasure to work alongside the club, and everyone once again made me feel welcome and supported throughout the afternoon. That kind of warmth is what makes covering these events such a rewarding experience.
